Sometimes it is easy to see danger coming giving you plenty of time to prepare in advance to avoid the consequences.
Like seeing storm clouds forming in the distance. You know a storm is coming and know that you need to head for the nearest safe harbour or lee shore, or prepare to “weather the storm”.
But sometimes the approaching danger…..
- can’t be seen
- can’t be smelled
- can’t be heard
- can’t be felt
- can’t be tasted
A danger that is not visible, is odourless and doesn’t make any noise happens in our daily lives, and yes, even on a boat whether at the dock or out on the water.
How to deal with danger
The only way to deal with this type of hidden danger is to be aware and prepare.
- How do we know when it is present?
- How do we identify it?
- What do we do if it happens?
These are questions every boater should ask and have the answers to.
We have written a very informative article that answers all these questions and more. See Major Harbour Danger
