Put Joy into your docking!

The joy of docking

Finally, some sun and warmer weather to enjoy our boats. We’ve had so many gray, overcast days lately. But, now with most boats launched and being provisioned for summer recreation, it is time to think about the challenges of going and coming from our docks!

Each spring, it seems that we have to learn all over again. The boat may be in a new slip, or the water levels may have changed, or you have decided to back into the slip for better access to the water and hydro. Sometimes, we just have different family members or friends joining us who need to know the docking procedures to follow. You may have a different boat or the boat just can’t remember everything it is supposed to do from last season and needs to be trained all over again.

Joy or Fear?

How was your first weekend out on your boat this year? If it went like clockwork, congratulations. You don’t need to read any further. Just get out on the water and enjoy without the fear of returning to your dock. Oh Joy!

Alternatively, if your first trip out wasn’t perfect when you returned to the dock, and you need to improve your docking skills a little, keep reading.

  • Was everyone happy until you hit the dock?
  • Did you screw-up docking when you returned after a fun-filled day on the water?
  • Did you scare your family or friends when docking?
  • Did you embarrass your partner by yelling at them?

Make all those problems disappear like magic.

Just little reminders and some new tips will eliminate the yelling, swearing, jumping, boat hooks, bionics, dock helpers, guesswork and embarrassment.
